Adjusted3 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Team Fishdog fished in this Pro/Am on the Am side. Was a great event, met many old friends and made several new ones. But, the end result is that we got our butts kicked! (and kicked hard)We had our fish bracketed and targeted up till Wed when mother nature decided to blow some 50mph winds out of the north/west. Thursday was unfishable, and friday was called as the waves were pushing 10-14. So, it was a one day shootout. We decided to run north and set up in 115 fow and pulled one smallish king and made a decision after reaching 145 to pull and run south and in to 90. We started to pop rods and boxed up 2 nice kings and got off our waypoints and by the time we got back to them we were running out of time. We pulled another king with 1 hour to go that placed 3rd in the the big fish on the am side. We made a few mistakes with some tangles but due to the big blow, it was anyones guess as to where the fish were. We talked to many that were at 2-4 fish on the day, many pro boats that boated 1 or 2 and a couple that did not weigh. There was not pattern for us, except that our meat rigs never fired and the dipsys never fired as well. Tough day but we still cashed a small check on the one fish. Mark
spoonfed Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 We came in right behind Team Fishdog! It must have been the banana that we didnt find until today! We ran to the north also, and dropped lines at 105'. We popped a nice coho right away on a spin doctor and fly down the chute. About ten minutes later we picked another one up on a cut rig. We then caught a nice laker on a Michael Jackson spoon on the bottom. The fishing died off there so we opted to run to 85'. We boxed another on a dipsy and a cut rig. We then proceded to loose the next three. We had alot of fun with the guys at barneys talking stratagy! We' ll get em next time
Reel Turner Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Nice report guys. I wasn't too far ahead in the catch weighing in six fish. Boated 6 out of 12 bites in 90 to 130 fow north. Took some big rips on the meat, but couldn't put them in the cooler. Her is how important trout were, I weighed three kings and three trout (27# total) for a whopping 117 points!Nice to meet you Eric. Too bad we couldn't get those carbs fixed. Kits came in the mail yesterday morning. Hopefully see you all at the next league event.
fishin'magician' Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Yeah Barneys Was A Very Good Time!Oh Yeah The Fishing Was Ok Also
Live2fishdjs Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Yeah Barneys Was A Very Good Time!Oh Yeah The Fishing Was Ok AlsoAs for the fishing it wasn't so swell for myself and BDWaulk...we ended up only having the two of us on the boat (could've used those extra 3 lines) and only boated 2 fish (one coho and one king). Started in 150' quite a ways north and finally found some fish in about 70' but it was too late to capitalize on them. From the sounds of it if we would have went south instead of north it may have been a different story. Had a good time as it was and look forward to many more events. Good luck to everyone going to South Haven...wish I was going.
