LkEffect
Had a good fathers day trip out of Pentwater on sunday morning. Started at the north end of the dunes and trolled south from there in 155-170 fow. The water temps were 61 on the surface and 52 55' down. Had good action the whole morning, nothing fast and furious but a steady bite. The current was really ripping as the morning went on. Couldn't get the baits slow enough heading into the current so we had to go with it to get any bites. Downriggers 55-85 down with stingray green dolphin and blue mixed veggies as well as 110 down with a white 11" prochip flasher with oceana rapture fly. Every rod got bit throughout the morning from 3 colors of leadcore with a reg sized jawbreaker to 300 ft of copper with a blue machine stingray. 100 and 150 ft of copper were also very good with a reg caramel dolphin and green mixed veggies stingray. Our biggest fish came on a wire diver 120' back with an 8" green/glow prochip flasher and a hypnotist rapture fly. That setup also took some smaller fish as well. The catch consisted of a couple of lakers and the rest 3-4lb kings with a couple close to 10lbs and one just over. It was a strange weather day as it would blow hard for a half an hour making 2-3' whitecaps and then the wind would just die out for a while and the lake would get nice again. Look out for the nets off juniper beach. Good luck
CAC
Thanks for the detailed report. Your insight on the effect of current on the bite was perceptive. Hopefully we can all get back out this coming Saturday and find some more of these fish.
