monkeypuke Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Best bite has been shallow water, 20-40 fow. Stinger Scorpion Spoons on jet divers with short leads 30-60 feet off the boards. Toxic if you don't have any jets on board you can always use a diving body bait and take the hooks off, then tie your leader to the front hook ring. You can probably catch these shallow fish with flat line body baits too. main thing is to get your lines out away from the boat on planer boards.
shu9265 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 smaller dipsey divers will work also. Just need to keep them in the top 15 feet of water.Oh yeah almost forgot, we took some using a 3 way with a crankbait on the bottom, and a harness or spoon above it.
Priority1 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Heck in 40 FOW you could get down with inline weights or bouncers. Capt Ray is on the case. GJ:)
shu9265 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Good point Frank, He can always just put a weight on the leader in front of the harness, and reach them with no trouble. About 1 1/2 ounces should do the trick.
shu9265 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Toxic, you can also try these setting with your divers:0 dipsy - 1 setting - 50 back0 dipsy - 2 setting - 60 back0 dipsy - 3 setting - 70 back1 dipsy - 3 1/2 setting - 50 backHarnesses - watermelon w/ pink beads, confusion with pink beadsSpoons - chicken wing, blonde chick, and I had really goodluck with the Black blades on my harness's.
Toxic Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks guys. I was in 50 FOW running my #1's set @O and also 3 settings targeting the 30-40 FOW range. I'd have to look at my chart to find exact line out. I had my boards running deep diving reef runners w/inline weights. I had anywhere from 100-200 FOL out. I was marking lots of fish. Sounds like I was running a little to deep. Weather permitting I'll be back up this weekend and I'll take the advice.
Storm Warning II Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Carmel Dolphin DW SS has been firing a BUNCH over on the PA side as well, several buddies have been doing VERY WELL on it.
