SeaGar Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I unspooled about 4' of cable from the spool the cable came on and stripped off the coating. This cable really twists as you may know. I've also unspooled the old wire from the digitrol. The question is, are there any tricks to keep this cable from twisting when I spool from the cable spool to the Cannon digitrol spool? I fear this could become a mess Thanks...
TheKingfisher Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 We just put new cable on the riggers yesterday, includeing one rigged with the SubTroll coated cable. All we did was put the spool of new cable on a heavy screw driver, and I wore 2 pairs of heavy leather gloves. I applied tension to the spool of wire as we let the electrics take on the new line. That's what I've done in the past with no problems, just kept tension on the line as it is going on.
SeaGar Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Thanks for the reply. My concern is how the line comes off the cable spool and onto the downrigger. When you stand there with the spool on the screwdriver does the line come off the top or off the bottom of the spool ? Also, are there any problems with line twist ? Thanks,Ned
Priority1 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 The wire should come off the bottom of the spool and on to the bottom of the Cannon. If it starts to twist let it come off the top for awhile.
SeaGar Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 Thanks for the input and clarification. I'll give a try !Ned
