GLF Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 When you go fishing on the Great Lakes, are you fishing for quantity or quality? Please explain your reasoning. Also state if you are a charter captain or not.
Capt. Mike Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I would think customers would want lots of fish. Myself, when going for walleye, I want the good eaters. 15"-18-19 or so. No salmon on our side of the state to mention.LSC and SCR system.
HitMan Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Overall, the majority of people on charters prefer a lot of fish, over a few bigger fish. A few people each year complain about the size of fish, but overall most people prefer to have a lot of action, so everyone on the charter gets a chance to fight fish. I personally prefer a lot of action as well. Bigger fish are fun to fight, but steady action makes everyone happy and it doesn't get boring after awhile.
DIRTY DOG Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 i also like a lot of action ,and an occasoinal big fish becouse the peopal that go with me normaly only get out once in a while so a bunch of fish will get them to come back and i can go again becouse its starting to get hard to get a crew as the people i normaly fish whith have a lot of thing going on in the summer
Steve Arend Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Where is the Quantity and Quality?I'm always looking for the most and biggest fish that I can catch.

Satisfaxion_Gauranteed Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I used to be all about the quantity until we had a very large one on and lost it last year. I still have the lure it hit and damaged as good luck token. We fought that fish for what seemed like an eternity, but was actually around the 10minute mark. We got glimpses of it and I missed out on landing the largest fish I've ever had on. Maybe as I get older and wiser, I'll get the chance to get one like that again, only land it. The exitement of that one large fish was awesome! Although, I won't turn down the quantity either. :-)
LongLine Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 3 or 4 fish over 15# on a Saturday morning would keep me smiling all week. (but I'd definitely be back on Sunday) Strictly Rec. & C&R.Tom B.(LongLine)
FreeTime Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I will take quality anyday. I think that comes with time and numbers of fish caught over time. I do like to stay busy but I would rather catch 5 good fish in a day versus 15 little ones.Dave
too deep Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I eat the little guys and smoke or can the big ones. I will take a boat full of 5-8 pounders over a couple of 20#ers.
NO MO BEGGEN Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 i think the first few times you go out its more about numbers, but after that some nice 20 and over fish would be great
