Higgins Lake Ice Fishing Contest 2/23/08

It is that time of year again to come fish Higgins Lake. Saturday Feb 23 2008 7:00am to 3:00pm. A $5 Winterfest badge is required to enter a fish to the contest. Badges will be sold on Site at the "Fish Board" Located at the DNR WEST SHORE BOAT LAUNCH. All fish must be registered by 3:00pm at the SAME BOAT LAUNCH. This is no serious fishing tournament its just a fun excuse to fish Higgins Lake for all ages. Categories for the adults, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, White Fish, Perch, & Northern Pike, for Kids 13-16, Lake Trout, Perch, for Kids 12 and under ANY FISH will qualify. The Rules are simple, the longest fish in each category wins first place in that category, second longest fish wins second and so on. I (Nick Poindexter) owner of ERA Houghton Higgins Real Estate and Lyman Foster owner of Lymans on the Lake have provided over $600 of ice fishing gear for prizes. Prizes range from $30 or so on down the line. These prizes will be handed out at the Silver Dollar Bar(About a mile North of the Baot Launch) after the 3:00 deadline. So bring your friends and family up to Higgins Lake for a nice day of ice fishing and if you are lucky enough to land a fish bring it to the boat launch and enter it to win a prize. Good Luck!
