minnow Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Thinking of buying a new gps for the boat. Wondering what is the best investment for 500 to 600 bucks? I don't need a combo unit as I already have a quality graph. Help me shop.
Paulywood Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I bought a Garmin GPS Map 192 last year and really like it. I paid $400 for it from marinewhiz.com. They have pretty good deals. The one I bought has a 5" screen. I'm sure if you wanted you could find one with a bigger screen for $600 if you wanted. I also have seperate units and didn't want anything bigger than that. I like how you can link the Garmin units together. (Same w/ Lowrance) I can display my fishfinder on the GPS screen. It also has boat info such as voltage. Can even take it in the car. There are a lot of good units out there for that price. Good luck Scott.
Phishy Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 As far as a hand held Garmin Map76S is hard to beat about $300 maybe less. the 76SC is color and shows contours really well if you load charts and stuff on to it. the 76SCx has memory card capapbilites. All are WASS capable.I have 76SC and use it for hunting, but this is all handheld stuff which you might not be looking into.MY 2 cents
