caznik Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 What do you like fishing for on the Great Lakes when it comes to the fight of a fish? My vote would have to be the Skamania Steelhead because that fish will not stop jumping out of the water and is a very tuff fish to bring in the boat. I remember fishing in the Harbor at Frankfort and they was very thick in there and my dad and I was hooking on lots of them. We lost alot of lures and lost allot of Skams that day. That afternoon we caught 4 Skams and lost so many it wasn't funny
Satisfaxion_Gauranteed Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I voted Kings just due to the larger size, but if it came down to a pound per pound toughness and enjoyment, I'd swing toward Steelys in a heartbeat.
Priority1 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Yes the brute force from a 25+# King is tough to beat. The Steelhead is a better showman.
GLF Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I did watch Dv8oR reel in a 3.5lb smallmouth last year, but did not see smallmouth on the poll. That critter had shoulders on it I tell ya!If I fished Lake Ontario where those Moby Chinook's roam, I would say Chinook. Since I fish Lake Michigan, I would have to say Steelhead.
2UNREEL Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 The Skamania Steelhead are radicle. BUT The river brown trout pound for pound are insaine fighters. I havent caught enough of Lake Michigan browns to really compare to the Kings and Steelies.
NO MO BEGGEN Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 if you ask me a big old sheep head beats them all lol
LongLine Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 King for brutte strength & speed, however a 15 Lb Atlantic (which are extremely rare) will put anything in freshwater to shame.
spoonmaster Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I have only fished Erie in the last 20 or so years so I have to say Steelhead, nothing like seeing a 10 lb'er come 5-6 ft out of the water !!!!!!!!But on the other hand.................rdfishin does make a good point, maybe if the sheephead would learn how to jump !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***I think I need some warm weather, startin to go crazy***Al
DangerDan Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I vote the Asian Carp..... Well okay, theyre not that big yet but just give em a few years, they'll be huge and so plentiful they'll be jumpin in your boat...
Dv8oR Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I'm going to keep with the perch. Fierce rod breaking action........It may be fun to watch me have a hard time reeling in a perch, but it would never compare to the bottomless beer Rich had at a certain tourney camping trip! (not to mention the scope-eye he caught a couple of years ago!)
Storm Warning II Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 What other fish can take out 3 or 400' of line in like 45 seconds????...nuff said.
SkeinMachine Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Didn't see sturgeon on the list,my vote would go to Kings.
special x Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 It was a tough choice but for over here on Lake Superior its the STEEL HEADthey put on the greatest show..but if you want a long battle try a 35 lb laker down at 150 ft..some days it take an hr or 2 to bring him up..
fishsniffer Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 i voted steelhead cause i love watching tham jump and twist in the air 50 feet behind the boat
