GLF Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I am not a charter captain, but I do have a few questions for your guys. On weekends I am sure a lot of you are running multiple charters all weekend long. When to you put fuel/gas in your boat? Do you do it with a charter on board?
free spirit Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I run a lot of "doubles" which consist of an 8 hour and then a 4 hour evening. It requires a little bit of pre-planning but I try to make my trips to the gas dock on the less crowded week days--usually evenings. Having a 250 gallon tank helps too.Under NO circumstances will I fuel my boat with clients on board.Paul CzarneckiFree Spiritwww. tristatetaxidermy.com
CaptLevi Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 It is against the reg's for us to gas up with customers on board. Not very professional to do either. It takes some planning, but usually I can squeeze it in between charters if needed.
HitMan Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 We always fill up between trips on weekdays only. We also fill up if we have a "blow day" or something else. We never fill up on the weekend, except for tournament saturdays, if necessary. Grand Haven gets really clustered during the weekends so we avoid it all together. We always take advantage of the time we have to go fill up, even if we don't need it quite yet. Like Levi said, it is illegal to fill up with customers and it doesn't look very good or professional either.
Captain Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Never with clients on board. Thats a big No No, in between trips....
