Losin Lures Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I've never fished out of muskegon. Can you launch a boat that drafts 3.5 ft of water out of Fishermans landing or is it kind of shallow like Port Sheldon?

Can you launch a boat that drafts 3.5 ft of water out of Fishermans landing or is it kind of shallow like Port Sheldon? You should be just fine at Fishermans landing, but if you are worried about shallow water. Stay away from Snug Harbor, because that is shallow there. Have you ever launched out of anywheres at Muskegon?Do you know where the Black buey is?Rich
Losin Lures Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I have never launched a boat out of Muskegon. Don't know anyone who has either. 5 in the a.m. is not always the best time to try something new with the boat lol.

Can you launch a boat that drafts 3.5 ft of water out of Fishermans landing or is it kind of shallow like Port Sheldon?Holy smokes! I've been on a 33 ft weekender that we can get up to 2.5fow. That's some serious draft ya got there. There's plenty of deep water to stay in launching from Fisherman's. Do you have a chip with depths for your gps?You can follow the lake channel all the way up to the piers. It's very wide and plenty deep.
Losin Lures Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I have had issues with less than 3 ft of water. I say 3.5ft to be sure. I went out of Manistee and stayed at the campgound up there one year where they said I was fine up to 3 ft and I had a little problem getting through. It's a 1985 21' Chris Craft. NO chips with depths. I had been using a handheld gps for several years but finally got a hummingbird 767 combo this year.

caznik Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Hey everyone, This is what Al Baggett from B4K happen to say on MS and thought that I'd share it with you.RichThis is absolutely amazing guys! Thank you so much for signing up and being a part of this fun event. The first time I have heard of this event is when Tom contacted us recently about raising some funds for B4K through a fun fishing trounment and I must admit, I'm impressed with what I've seen thus far! It's great to see so many people signing up each day to not only have a fun day on the water, but also help make the dreams of terminally ill and life limited children nationwide come true! Benefit4Kids is a 100% volunteer organization, based out of Macomb MI, working with kids nationwide! B4K was started in 1998 and since then we have been able to grant the "Outdoor Wishes" of more than 45 kids! Getting the word out about B4K is the hardest part but slowly it is and as it does more and more kids are realizing they too can have an their "Outdoor Wishes" come true! With the average cost of an "Outdoor Wish" costing around $3000.00 each, these types of fundraisers such as the "Dreamweaver Challenge" become that more important!Thank you to everyone that has signed up thus far and good luck to everyone!Al BaggettPresident Benefit4Kids

GLF Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Can people win more than one prize if they have more than one ticket for the drawing, or are they limited to one prize?
caznik Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Can people win more than one prize if they have more than one ticket for the drawing, or are they limited to one prize? There in the rules Mike.... Winnings will be awarded accordingly (You can win one prize per person) Prizes (thus far) to be raffled off, include: · 2 Electric Silver Captain’s Pak Downriggers. · Silver Dual Manual Planer Rigger · A pair of Silver Dual Multi-Set Rod Holders on Pedestal Base · A pair of Silver Multi-Set Rod Holders tree features · Lure package from Dreamweaver Lure Co. These prizes are contingent on getting at least 30 boats. We are working on door prizes for extra prizes, but as far as the big prizes from Big Jon. Only one per person.
GLF Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 There in the rules Mike....Winnings will be awarded accordingly (You can win one prize per person) Guess I should read the BOLD print next time.
caznik Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Guess I should read the BOLD print next time. Mike, Now remember, you do have a crew that does fish with you. He can also buy tickets to win prizes for either him or help out the captain that he fishes with all the time. So get your crew to buy tickets to and help you out if you like to win more. But otherwise only one of the four major prizes from Big Jon can be won per person. We are into this for helping out the kids:)...So buy lots of tickets.... Rich
