News Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact was initiated in 2005 by the governors of the eight Great Lakes states and by the premiers of the two Great Lakes provinces in Canada. To take effect, it must also be approved by the lawmaking bodies of the states and provinces, and by the U.S. Congress. Without compact, lakes will be vulnerable by State Sen.
