special x Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Well we tried to go on the 6th but she was blowing to hard, sat at marina at Grand Portage over nite. Sun morn we left in 3-4 ft wave and thick fog, ran to Rock of ages and setup fished the reefs with only 1 fish. Picked up at 12.00 when fog lifted and ran to McCorrmics reef . It was a little slow to start but then we moved in on a 35 ft reef an were gettig lakers on board lines and riggers steelies on the dipseys. The bite started getting good at 6.00 pm when we had to pull up lines. Ended up with 8 lakers and 1 steelie , biggest at 14lbs . Ran 10 miles back to Grace for camp .Mon thunder storms all day with heavy rain sat at dock. Tues morn left to run back to Grand Portage Heavy seas 8-14 ft wave for most of the 21 mile trip back. The fall colors were great. Only seen 1 other park service boat all weekend . Red spoons worked the best.
