GRAND HAVEN -- The U.S. Coast Guard in Grand Haven says the search for a man who fell off a boat into Lake Michigan is now a recovery effort.

Officials say James Dutkiewicz, 24, fell into the lake about two miles away from the South Pier area Saturday morning, and they believe he drowned.

The search was called off Sunday until lake conditions improved.

Two other men, who were also on the boat, called for help.

Dutkiewicz was not wearing a life preserver.

A woman who says she is the sister of one of the other men on board the boat said they did what they could to save their friend, including one of them jumping overboard.

This happened Saturday right between the Sea Flea and Tammy Too Charter Boats. Sea Flea called the USCG and Tammy Too pulled lines and went to try and save the guy as both boats were watching when the other guy jumped off the boat. They said the young man possibly had a seizure and just fell overboard. They said the young man was instantly missing as soon as he hit the water. That was the last I had heard anything.
