Priority1
Well I guess the Lake Michigan Jinx is off the Priority1. My second new alternator performed flawlessly. The 2 grumpy old men in the pic below can still Git Er Done. We went 6 for 6 our first morning there. I never did get 6 rods set that morning. We had four fish before I could get four rods in. A number 5 Glow Ghost J did most of the damage. We were running it 15 back, 60 down over 130-145 FOW. A Slide-Diver with a 6 inch glow squid behind a white 8 inch glow Hootchie was also a producer. The same Slide-Diver setup only a meat rig behind the flasher was also good. Slide divers were set @ 3-1/2 and run 150 back. We did fish one evening going 3 for 3 in a half hour period. The two Slide divers mentioned above each took a fish right after sundown. We also took a fish on the Glow Ghost J just before sundown. The big moon came up soon after sundown, and it was like someone hit the OFF switch. Our last morning there we only went 1 for 3. We had to leave early so Chuck could get back in time for work. We were also forced to fish right straight out for time reasons. The 44 17s and 18s were good for us as well as the 44 10s. I wouldn't let the nets keep you away from Manistee. Get the coordinates and stay East or West of them. The 44 10s are Just S of the nets, and the 17s and 18s are well N. of them. I know the nets are a touchy subject, but with careful planning it's not too difficult to avoid them. It would be nice to see them out of the picture, but it appears that we are going to have to live with them. If you want to play it safe when running N and S stay in 50 FOW or less or in 200 FOW or more. Coming back to port from the 10s we just stayed in the 50 foot range and run in after dark. huntingfool43
Good job Frank. Nice meeting you and chating with ya in the parking lot. We fished south, down into the 11's and 12's Saturday morning for the tourney and kind of bounced in between 2 of the nets. By about 9:30 or so we were out in 300' of water and no nets to worry about. We went 12 for a lot, not sure how many but ended up 3rd place with a 5 fish weight of 64.8 lbs. Priority1
GJ Steve. It was nice meeting you in Manistee. Manistee remains my favorite Lake Michigan Port. I'll have to wait until 08, for some MO Salmon Slammin.
