salmonquest Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 What's worse getting skunked or losing a big one. We were pre fishing for a tournament and something hit our most productive dipsy. I had not seen a rod slam like that or the reel peel line that quickly before. it either went well over 15 or was tail hooked. My friend fought him for about 2 minutes and then slack line. He reeled up nothing but the dipsy. I recalled that I had noticed a knot in the leader earlier and was going to replace it that night Stupid stupid stupid. not only did we lose a big fish but we also lost what was our most productive set up with no replacement. It was a siggs rigs green holo combo.
Rayman96 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Believe me when I say I feel your pain. Did the same thing many years ago. I was in too much of a hurry to set rods and I lost a personal favourite trolling fly I had made myself. Dumb-dumb-dumb. Was a lesson learned the hard way.
SkeinMachine Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Murphys Law for ya. We always have just one of a super hot lure, the cold lures are purchased in lots of 6 :sorry:
Priority1 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I lost my favorite # 5 white with black ladder back home glowed J plug a week ago. I was able to find a number 4 but I didn't have time to glow it. I feel your pain.
LongLine Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 S'Q' - We all feel your pain. The only thing worse is seeing a cash winning behemoth about a foot away from your net, after a 20 minute battle, and then having the rig let go. At least having him on let you know you were where the fish were.
salmonquest Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 yeah that would be the worst. Great Point! a fish to put you in the money and you can see it I would probably have to replace the guides on my rod after that one.
