Kings Around Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Got set up in 130 FOW about 5:00 PM about 3 miles north. Started marking a ton of fish right away. Couldn't get them to go. Trolled south for a couple of hours without a hit. Took a turn back north, nothing. Took a turn East and about 7:15 the rods started to go. Took 5 hits from then to 7:30.....Game on! Worked that area about a mile north from 130 - 140 until 9:00. Ended the night 9 for 13. Wire dipsy's on 1 1/2 back 225 - 250 were best. One had a pearl J-plug and the other had a white Fishcatcher and blue bubble fly. Also had Blue Sparkle, Blue Dolphin (northport nailer) go on Copper. Pretty much anything Blue was good. Riggers that went were 90 - 117 down. Again it was a white spindoctor and Blue hypnotist fly. Fishing is still a bit spotty, but if you find the hungry ones, the rods will light up. One other note, 3 were landed by my 7 year old and 2 were landed by my cousin's 9 year old.
Priority1 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 GJ Captain Chris, and thanks for the report. It sounds like setting lines @ 6:30 or 7:00 PM, should be the plan. The Kings seem to go nuts, when the sun gets close to the horizon. Sometimes it's pitch dark before they decide to go.
GLF Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Nice report Chris! Are you slipped at Bluffton Bay? I may end up there next season if there is an opening. I have my name on the waiting list.

Yeah, I'm there. I didn't realize Paul had a waiting list. There isn't all the creature comforts of Harbor Town or Great Lakes, but I like it. It is mostly a fishing marina. There are 3 bathrooms, a spot to clean fish, shorepower for the boat and plenty of cool people to drink a beer with. We'll have at least 5 charters next year, and there are about 75 or so other salmon boats, so if you are willing to share information with everone at the marina, they'll do the same. Unless of cource it is tournament weekend Hopefully we'll see you there next year.
