Well I did it this time.:) While straightening up my boat and gear this morning, I knelt on a small treble hook. A small tackle box spilled, and I though everything was picked up. One hook was through my bluejeans and into my knee. I cut off the hook leaving as much as possible sticking out of my jeans. I rolled up the pant leg. I made a looped piece of 80# Mono and slid it over what remained of the hook sticking out of my knee. I grabbed the hook with a pair of needle nose pliers on the outside of the mono loop, and made a twisting motion as if to remove it. I instructed my neighbor to jerk up on the mono when ever he was ready. I told him not to let me know when he was going to jerk it, and to jerk it with great force. Out popped the hook. I did this twice before for other people. The hook didn't hurt going in or coming out. This can save a day especially if you are in a remote area. If the whole hook is exposed just slide the heavy mono loop over the shank, and get it close to the bend in the hook. Press down firmly on the shank, and have someone jerk up on the mono loop. It helps to wrap a piece of cloth around the mono to prevent a line cut to the hand when jerking the hook out. That 80# mono loop went into my first aide kit on the boat. I hope I never have to use it again, especially on myself. I just had a tetanus shot a few months ago, and I applied some triple antibiotic cream to the slight wound.

Hey!!! I'm leaving for Manistee after Midnight.:)

Frank, thanks for the info on hook removal.

Good luck in Manistee. We only fished on Saturday, Morning and evening until around 11:00 and went 9 for 12 on the day. Ended up with a grand slam. I will be back again on Saturday and Sunday 8/25 & 26.

BAD BEAT THAT IS.:)

My 2-1/2 day trip to Manistee was cut to one day. We fished Tuesday morning and had the engine missing at trolling speeds. Shut down and changed plugs on the pond and "Walla" a piece of cake. Many hrs of slow trolling for eyes takes it's toll on plugs. I'm going to start changing or cleaning them half way through the season. We did manage to boat some Kings but NOT the Limits we were hoping for. Well my new Alternator is defective and that caused some issues,(New one on the way). WHY ME:no: When heading out for the evening run my trim quit working. We did however boat some Kings, but with the alternator and now the trim problem, I wasn't focused on fishing. Once the boat was on the trailer and the outdrive trimmed up, it wouldn't go down. I could have put a jumper wire on it, but it's not easy to get at, and tough to do in the dark. What a PITA. I spent some of the day troubleshooting the trim problem. I traced it down to a broken wire in the Throttle Shift Lever that also contains the trim switch. It's a lot easier to find a bad component than a bad or broken wire. That is three trips to Lake MI this year with problems every time. I may give it another whirl next week. If the trip next week goes like this one, It will be my last trip across the state this yr.

Oh!!! Labor Day Jeanice and I are walking the Mighty Mac. I'm putting some miles on this old body. She casually knows one of the Casino Hostesses in Brimley so she comped us a room for 2 nights, and also our meals. I'll let you know how free the room ends up being. I hope my luck on the Blackjack and Crap tables is better than my fishing trips to Lake Michigan. Brimley is right on Whiskey Bay, Lake Superior. I would take Priority1 with me, but I think that may put an end to our 41 years together. But on the other hand I would have more time to fix Priority1. I should change the boats name to THE OTHER WOMAN.
