South Haven Pech fishermen

Its comming up on my annual perch fishing week and we usually buy all of our bait from the Porthole which is now closed:eek:. So my question is where has everone been buying there bait around South Haven? Sorry I see I forgot the r in perch on the subject.

i got mine in allegan at the side door con. store i think the only place to get them in s.h. is at the marina next to capt loos but i was told saterday that they are 2.00 dollers a doz mine where .75 a doz

The only other place I know of and I go threw on my way to S.H. is in Grand Junction. I was just wondering if S.H. Had a place you could get them in a pinch if by some chance we hit the mother load. My father Always use to pop the eyes out of the perch he would catch and use them for bait. Thought I might give that a try as he claims the gobies will leave them alone.

Anyone else ever tried this?

hey joe the second best bait for use over the fourth was gobbie cut bait, they do also have minnows at the store in grand juc.

west main is a long way out of my way. but yeh your right that is another thought.

yes or live ones that are under 3 inches but the cut ones worked better

You might try Merson corners. The bait shop on the East Side of M-40 opens usually at 6 AM and they give you a good honest count + for $1 dozen. The place in Grand Junction has been out of minnows a couple of time that I went by there last week. And they don't open until 7 AM.

Let us know how the perching goes. I've had a tough time there the last two times out.

I also go right by there as I take 102 to the bloomingdale road and then cut up 388 to 390 and come in on Phenoix road. I live in Martin.

Another option would be to take M-222 in to Allegan, and stop by Webbers and Sons.

Yeh: I thought about it but its a little more difficult to come into allegan with Islander. But I have gone this route before.
