HitMan Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 June 17, 2007Fishing has improved out of Grand Haven. Fishing is really good for this time of year! Good to limit catches of King Salmon are being taken along with a few Lake Trout and Steelhead as well. The best fishing has been from 50-70 feet of water and also 160-190 feet of water. Downriggers 30-60 feet down, 3-10 colors of Lead Core, 75-150 feet of Copper and Divers 120-150 feet back have all been producing well in the muddy, nearshore, 50-70 feet of water fishery. Downriggers 35-140 feet down, 3-20 colors of Lead Core. 150-400 feet of Copper and Divers 100-190 feet back have all been producing well in the 160-190 foot depths. The Carmel Dolphin Stingray continues to be one of the hottest baits of the year! It accounted for nearly 50% of our bites this weekend. This has been working great on 3-10 colors of Lead Core, 15 colors and 150 and 225 feet of Copper. The Natural Born Killer Stingray and Lime Edge Stingray have been very good as well on 10 colors of Lead Core and also on Downriggers. These 3 colors (Carmel Dolphin Stingray, Natural Born Killer Stingray and Lime Edge Stingray) were our major producing spoons all weekend. The Double Orange Crush Stingray, Holly Christmas Stingray, Jawbreaker Stingray, Cory's Bait Stingray, Glo Dolphin Stingray, Blue Cory's Bait Stingray and Green Dolphin Stingray have all been good producing spoons. A few fish are also being taken on flasher/fly combinations. An 11 inch Pro-Troll ProChip White/Glow flasher with an Oceana Rapture Fly or a Frosted Fern Rapture Fly have been consistent producing rigs along with an 8 inch Pro-Troll ProChip White flasher with a Hit Man No-See-Um Rapture Fly or an Oceana Rapture Fly. The Oceana Rapture Fly has been our most consistent producing fly of the year! Also, an 8 inch Pro-Troll ProChip Green/Glow flasher with a Wild Fern Rapture Fly or Hypnotist Rapture Fly has been producing as well. Other flies that have been working are the Hypnotist LG Rapture Fly, Last Supper Rapture Fly, Blue Hypnotist Rapture Fly, Green No-See-Um Rapture Fly and Blue No-See-Um Rapture Fly.The typical June fishing is not here! Many limits of Kings are being caught within a few hours! Lots of large 10-18 pound King Salmon are being caught along with a lot of large 10-15 pound Skamania Steelhead!!! Get out fishing and good luck to all!
Wittingen Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Got out about 9 this morning and went 1 for 2 in about 60 ft of water just north of the pier heads. First hit came on a downrigger 50 ft down on a mixed veggie 11 pound king. Second hit came on mixed veggie 40 down on a rigger nothing home.
