westrate Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 4/30/2007Fishing is very slow with 1 to 3 fish per trip the norm and many boats are coming in skunked. The water has warmed up into the high 40 degrees, however there is no bait in the lake water and very little in the river water. Without the bait, there is nothing to hold the fish here.Brown trout and some 3 year old salmon are being caught on small Hot n Tots, Bango lures and Fast Trac stick baits on the surface behind inline planers. Small stinger spoons on 3 color lead core and on dipsy divers are also productive. Our bait should show up soon and once they do the fish will show and the fishing will improve. Jim F Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I agree---not much happening out of Saugatuck. We fished Sunday for about 8 Hours. Started out close to shore and picked up one Brown. Went out to 60 ~ 80 FOW and picked up 3 Lake Trout. Did not mark very many fish and no bait at all. It still was fun and a beautiful day for a boat ride.
