Upgrade the release on Offshore Planer boards?

Expanding my TTP( tactics, techniques, and procedures), Army terms, to include planer boards. I have order the 9.5” off shores boards. Bass Pro had a recommended buy of the planer boards snapper release

Is this needed/worth the $20 each?

I put these on all of my Walley boards two years ago with no issue.  the boards were going on 10+ years old on the stock clips had worn out.    the the price on Amazon for 8pcs you can replace all every two years and be money ahead.
