rmyers Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Thank you in advance for any help . Looking to buy some reels for magnum dipsey . Would the Diawa Salatist with a speed ration of 6 to 1 would this be two fast of a reel speed for these dipsey or should i look at a reel with 4 to 1 speed also is any one using fish usa flagship wire dipsey rods . Thanks again
EdB Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 A diawa line counter saltiest will be fine for dipseys. More speed is great on any trolling reel, especially core/copper rods. Okuma line counter convectors will be a little easier on your wallet. Have not used those rods but if spec'd as a dipsey/diver rod they are probably fine. If you are running 2 divers on each side with the magnums as your low divers, get 9 ft rods for them and use 10 ftrs for your high diver. You can also order online at Capt Chucks for a local store. One good thing with local is you can call them on the phone and they can answer your questions on the performance of various rods and reels. They have a great selection. https://www.capt-chuck.com/
WaveWhacker Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 The more line you plan to have out - whether mono, core, wire, braid, the more you will appreciate a higher gear ratio reel. I commonly run wire divers 200+ feet and the reels I use retrieve 30+ inches of line per turn.
