I have used both passenger (mostly) and ST(trailer) tires for many years. My boat weighs 1800 lbs and have towed it over 30,000 miles. Trailer tires are designed with a very stiff sidewall that will reduce trailer sway. Per the manufacturers ST tires only last 5 years. Car tires on a trailer may be over stressed and run too hot.  What have you found best?

Here is some info from Google.

ST tires feature heavier constructions, wider and stronger belt structures, and more durable compound blends to achieve this. Their combination makes sure the ST tire does not deform under load pressure, increasing its load durability. Additionally, the optimal tire shape, the firmer sidewalls, and their consistent surface contact allow the tow vehicle to have constant control over the entire trailer. This upgrades its handling and minimizes the possibility of the trailer swaying during its performance.
