FBD Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I'm back. Life and cranky outboard motors have conspired to keep me off the big pond since January but I finally have given up on fixing the old motor and bought an even older one to replace it. Only to have that one have issues. So I bought a kicker to have a back up. Only to have issues with how and where to mount it. So after a couple trips on Mac which produced some very nice walleye but not much excitement, we hit the end of the piers and motored up. And got soaked as the kicker was in the wash. So I tilted up the kicker and took off and the main shut off. Come on. Well when reaching to tilt up the kicker I knocked the fuel line off the main. Set up in 50' a few good marks worked that 50-60 hard until 7 with nothing showing. Picked up the next line up of lures and headed out. Pulled a glow plug off the rigger put on a green dolphin shipped it down 70. Grabbed the slide diver and went to reel it in and the half core came with it. That would have been fun. Dicking around with that look over rigger is popped up. Just as I go to grab it, the rod hunkers over and starts screaming. I've missed that. Oh did I mention there was a slide diver and a half core behind the boat? Somehow we got that all squared away. Only to have the king run into the other rigger as I went to net it. And this bugger wasn't even 12 pounds. Trolled out to 105' back in and then pointed it at the piers. Pulling lines in 65' I spun a crazy Ivan by accident and when I straightened back out the 7 color stayed behind the boat. Reeled that in and found a nice 5.5# coho impaled on the single hook on a blue dolphin. So while not as inspiring as some reports on here, this was a very important mile stone. 7
zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 30 Posted July 30 It was destined to be a night to try your patience since of course it was your first time back out this year. Happy it ended well and with a few fish in the cooler. 1
