2MD Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 we don't use fishhawk but SOG trolling south was best 2.5-2.9 trolling north was 1.9-2.1 got kinda violent rough out of the north late morning and current was coming at us for sure 1 1

zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I believe I heard you out there yesterday on channel 68. Congratulations on a great catch. I only managed one 12lb king in 99 FOW on a diver down 66' (orange killer spoon) with a hand full of tip ups. What I learned from your report is that all your presentations are no deeper than 60'; rigger down 75 at the ball ~60' down'; 300Cu at 2.5-2.9mph 40-45' down, low divers with 100-125' line out running 30-40' down. The water is very warm (~ 60 degrees and above) where these fish hit. Clearly my presentations are set too deep (targeting 50-55 degrees early morning) and will rethink my spreads. I found bait in 123FOW but no where else. Not sure what these fish are hunting for but there must be bait up high that I am not picking up. Thanks for the report. This is really valuable! And yes, I ran a north troll from 9:15 to 10:20am - it was pure joy (sic). Was sort of hoping I didn't get a hook-up as I was not clear how I would boat one fishing solo.
2MD Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 yes for sure and wow I cannot imagine running north in that solo - impressive man!
