Got out with Janet for an evening float and excited to put 6 rods in the water this trip.  There were 2-3 other boats out and we all appeared to be working 90-120 FOW.  We were paired with one North of the harbor.  Chatted a little bit on the radio, it was slow for everyone.  Went 2 for 2, both small kings.  Kept the first for dinner tonight and let the second foul hooked one go.  Tried running a ball right off the bottom with a SD/fly but got nothing but mussels.  Cottonwood scum was fouling up the lines as well.  Marked a number of bait balls inside 100 FOW with 40 degree water down 60 feet.  With the lake being calm, cold water and little boat traffic, I would not expect the fish to be out in deep water but they did not show up inside of 150 FOW the last two trips.  Data below.

Thanks for the report.

My theory is the bait is mostly in the harbors and the numbers of fish just moved off.  As the bait makes it back out into the lake they'll be back.  Also the cold water top to bottom isn't helping concentrate any fish.  Pretty sure salmon can move 10-20 miles in a night.

To quote Van Halen “stop looking out, start looking in” at least that’s my theory.  Going to try out front tonight…

But I mean it’s June so throw a dart.

Hi Rich. I was the little boat who followed you out. It was very slow. I kept going out to 170 before turning around.  I never had a hit.  I too saw the bait in shallow. Guess I should have stayed in as well. Thanks for the report.  Sisu

Too rough out front to try - state park staff was trying to close the pier but some oblivious couple on the end would not leave.  Trolled the channel and Mac wishing for a stray walleye or steel but mostly straining the cottonwood fuzz out of the lake - ended up with about half a dozen sheep some over 10# that fought quite well.
