littleboat Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 1 ramp is in at both locations. Rebuilding one at Holland yet. Water level looks a little low. Sent from my Z5156CC using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app 1 1
FBD Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Thanks for the update. Be careful on the slime around those docks - member at another site I regular took a spill last fall and it ended up becoming fatal. 1
Engfishman87 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I don't know if it is true or not but on Michigan Sportsman Forum they were saying that the sand at the end of the Port Sheldon piers is so shallow that some larger boats may have trouble getting out? Anyone know how shallow it is?
FBD Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Never seen it less than 7’ deep through there but the lake can move a lot of sand in a hurry.
Wes34 Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Some property owners said that Consumers Energy has applied for an emergency dredging permit and are waiting for approval. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
FBD Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 So when they close the plant can we plan on the channel filling up?
Wes34 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 One guy waned to tell me about how his grandfather and other residents used to dig a path from the sand to flush out the river mouth before the piers were put in. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
FBD Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I recall stories of when the bubbler wasn’t there and you waded as close as you dared to the drop off where the hot water was pumped across the beach.
Great Gazoo Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 My brother works for Consumers in Port Sheldon. He's heard It's very, very shallow in the channel.
