Mega Byte Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Sometimes statistics sound better than they really are. We went 5 for 7 on the morning, but we only ended up with 1 fish in the box. We kept a fat, 16# king that we got on a double-slick spin doctor and a pickled sunshine fly. We threw back 4 younger class kings that were probably each about three or four pounds. All of the smaller fish were caught while checking lines to switch out baits. We fished from 60 FOW out to 170 FOW. There was cold water in close and around the lighthouse. (Upper 40s surface temp inside of 120 fow.) We got the big king early, 6:07 am in 86 FOW. We pulled lines at 12:30. It should start heating up in my home port by the end of the week...fingers crossed... 4

zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Nice big king! There seems to be a larger number of small jacks getting hooked this early in the season. Typically see that in the fall. There is mostly west wind in the forecast for this week which will likely stack up the warm water and push the kings out to deeper water. Bummer.
