My last two trips out of Holland were skunks too. Seeing that a new state record was caught in Ludington will keep me fishing, but the skunks are discouraging. Thanks for the report. FBD Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I haven't caught a king yet this year, in five trips. Appreciate the honest reports.

I've done well out of Holland a few times this year but unless we get some weather changes I'm headed to play bumper boats up north. I enjoy fishing not washing lures. I'm not old enough to have been around during the"glory" years. In my lifetime my home port of Holland has never been great fishing. 1

Guys will catch a couple fish around the piers in the fall but nothing like years past. There just aren’t enough fish planted to return in any numbers. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Totally the truth the plants are not here to support a run. It's a transition fishery when they're here you better get out as they don't stick around. 1
FBD Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 The good old days in the piers at Holland were not so long ago. Labor Day after noon 2013. We were calling people we knew had licenses and coolers to come meet us at the dock, grab their limit and go home. 27 kings, 3 coho, 10.4# walleye on a rigger and a #4 silver bullet J plug... 2
FBD Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 7-28-12 B4K. 1 hour 40 minutes from the pier heads to the pier heads in 2-4' chop. We had to quit with 15 fish or who knows what we could have done that day... 3
Guaranteeit Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Now I'm happy if I can go around one time in the boat and everyone onboard gets to reel in a fish. Maybe someday again...
