Markiemrk Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I’m interested in learning how to locate and fish the lake trout reef in indiana . Does it have a name ? I’m just not sure where it is actually located and where the best place to launch a boat to access it . I would appreciate any info on the area .
EdB Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 You might be thinking of Jullians Reef in Illinois. Some info here. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Map-indicating-the-locations-of-Julians-Reef-and-Waukegan-Reef-denoted-by-where-the_fig1_317286429
CapMike Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 The one in Indiana is an artificial reef just north of the Port of Indiana which is just east of Burn's Waterway and best accessed at the Portage Public Marina. When you get down to the lake (@3/4 mile) look east, you'll see the port sticking out from the beach. The reef is about 25 yards north of the north breakwall and rises about to about 15 feet of the surface in 40/45 feet of water. EZ PeeZee.
