GLF Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Whats your favorite brand of flies to use on Lake Erie? If you do not fish Lake Erie, please do not answer the poll.
Baydawg Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I run flashers and flies for steelies in June and July
monkeypuke Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Baydawg,I'll have to give them a try this spring. We mostly pull spoons for the trout over here.
shu9265 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I am thinking that I will give them a try this year. After seeing some of the posts that Capt. Dan from Walleye Express posted last season of walleye taken on files.
Baydawg Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Steelhead are Steelhead no matter where they swim. I used to only fish spoons, and when they are hot, nothing else is neccesary. But, early in the the year, we run a typical Lake Michigan spread for 'em.
Storm Warning II Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 We typically "spoon" feed our steelies. The only times we really target them are when they school w/ the eyes in DEEP water staging for their charge to the trib mouths. Then we fish the trib mouths with spoons and sticks and the Bay in the spring w/ spoons and sticks. I guess if I felt the need to catch JUST steelies I would run a flasher/fly
Rayman96 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I don't know if they are still made commercially, but I still have a few Kent Fly that I use. Some are rebuilt and don't really look very much like the original.I also make some of my own. Thank you Caz for your tutorial on making flies.
