shu9265 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I have several Cannon Electric riggers, the question I have is there any way I can add auto stop to these so the rigger will stop when the ball hits the surface of te water on the retrieve.
Mega Byte Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I've got some really old Mag 10s and they have autostop. Was it not standard? Just wondering if yours has them, but it's not working. If you use superbraid instead of wire, the autostop won't work.
shu9265 Posted May 14, 2020 Author Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) I still have the cable (stainless) But, I have no idea what is missing to make them stop or how to set them up. I will try and contact Cannon and see if they have anything on their site OK I went to cannon web site found owners manual for my riggers. Says to check ground between batteries and boat. When checking between battery and rigger cable, should have slight positive charge. Also suggests to use Weight Insulator between ball and end of cable. I will try these steps and post back with my results. Edited May 14, 2020 by shu9265
AlwaysBroke Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 TAKE THE MOTOR COVER OFF.....................CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A SMALL CIRCUIT BOARD...............THAT COULD BE BAD.........THEY DO SELL REPLACEMENTS FOR THOSE....... IF YOU DONT HAVE A CB....YOU DONT HAVE AUTO-STOP................. IF YOUR SWITCH DOESNT "SPRING BACK" IN BOTH UP/DOWN POSITIONS YOU DONT HAVE AUTO STOP......... HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEWHAT.... TD
Indybleck Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 This is the insulator they are talking about, clip the snap from your cable in one, then your ball on the other. When this breaks the water surface the ball will stop. Sent from my SM-G970U using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
shu9265 Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 UPDATE. I removed the cover and found that I have 4 with circuit boards in them and 2 without. I will use the ones with auto stop on my boat and let my son use the others on his boat. Thank You so much for the info and knowledge. Bill
