GLF Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I am looking for a new net for my boat. Any recommondations?
HitMan Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I second that! It is a lot less stressful when you have two nets and get into a herd of fish all at once. I would recommend Cumings Nets. They are locally made in Flint, MI and the customer service has always been fantasic for as many years as I can remember. Ranger nets also make a good net. Be sure to get a strong but light handle, otherwise netting becomes too much of a job and is like work.
monkeypuke Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Frabill makes a pretty good net, I like their extendable handle it's pretty strong. I need to be able to reach the water, I sit about 3 foot up from the waterline and have to reach past my swim platform.
Dv8oR Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Its got to be a pretty big net, a 27' Sea Ray Amberjack will never fit in a little net....lol....Make sure its a big one for those 30lbers we'll be netting during the West Michigan Fishing league events.....
CaptLevi Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 We just swing them 30 lbers onboard like big eyed tuna! I purchased some from a Company out of Wisconsin two seasons ago. (4 replacements) All are junk now. Gotta find a new supplier.
DIRTY DOG Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 i have a cummins with a 8 ft fiber glass handel that is very strong it came from tackle haven in st joe and i think it was around 35 dollars
McFly Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Heavy duty net bag and a good strong handle. Those 2 pc. aluminum adjustables look like they would bend with a 20#er in it.
Willie Bee Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 When it comes to a net I highly recommend a Beckman. They may have changed the name on the salmon series, but the Salmon Special is the last net you'll ever buy. They have a hook proof net and a lifetime guarantee on the yokes. I've had mine for 15 years and it's still going strong.
J J Mac Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I use Cummins nets with the extendable, hexagonal handle and put Frable waxed nets on them. I have used Beckman and they are excellent quality but I don't like the round handle - makes it more difficult to latch the handle in place when you move it in or out.
