CJ428
My Church's TX44 planar board had a mono line break while pulling 8 cores - fish likely hit it. I had added a black line clip after the Church's one broke. I thought the 17 lb mono was ok. Have others seen this? On the next TX44 should I get the $22 yellow LOCK JAW clip they advertise? Pretty expensive to lose the whole darn set up.
Dr Hook
Haven't lost a board since going to braid backing and lockjaw. Which means tomorrow one is probably gone.
Creekerman
I run a braid backer 50#, then about 20-30 feet of 40# mono, then connect my copper or leadcore line with leader to follow. I always attach my tx44 board to 40# mono. Never had a problem with a break-off running that set up for 6 years.
jdh
17 lb mono is way too light. I use a segment of 30 or 40 lb mono behind the lead core/copper and then 40 or 50 lb braid.
