Mega Byte Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I haven't been out since Jun 2nd. Just curious how the amount of bait in the lake compares to last year couple of years, which were pretty good I think.
Bobr Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Didn’t mark much this morningSent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
Reel-Deal Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I was out yesterday in Muskegon from 7am - noon - and fished in 90-120 FOW and there was a more bait then I've seen in quite a while - I was out 2 weeks ago and the screen was mostly empty from 100-250 FOW. I get that it comes and goes in areas based on wind, temps, etc. - But I cut my teeth in Lake Ontario 30 years ago - and the amount of bait there is insane due to such a rich bio-mass from Lake Erie...but I was happy with what I saw yesterday.
Sassy Sharon Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 We were out of Muskegon last Thursday Night. About 9:00 PM, On the way back in front of the channel, any where from 50 fow to about 30 fow it was wall to wall bait fish. They went from about 10 feet down to about 30 feet. My screen is 5 inch by 7 inch and it was all bait fish 1
Realmeal Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I marked a decent amount in south haven up until the last couple of weeks. In May, the screen was consistently covered. I have marked very little to nothing lately. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
bvanderj Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I have marked wayyyyy less bait this year than last. A little worrisome but hoping maybe it's been packed somewhere else.
Aaron Nusbaum Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 They're gonna be scattered right now. This wind screwed up the the thermocline when it turned the water over so they don't really have a specific depth to gather. A couple weeks ago I had no problem finding them.
