jdh Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Holland 8/13 AM Launched a bit after 5 am. Traveled to 140 fow about 2 miles South of Holland and had lines in by 6:30 am. We trolled from 140 fow out to 212 fow on a SSW direction most of the morning and ended up about 12 miles south of Holland varying speeds from about 2.0 to 2.5 mph at the ball down 85+. Caught 12 fish by 9 am and got another 5 while from 9 am to 11:30 am. The total was 17 for 24 with 8 coho, 5 kings, 2 steelhead and 2 smaller lakers. The temp break was between 80 and 95 down. What worked best (because every line we had got hit): 400 Copper - Moonshine Mag Blue Flounder RV - 4 Fish 400 Copper - Silver Streak Mag Blue Dolphin - 3 Fish Rigger 85-95 down - Moonshine Mag Flounder Pounder RV - HOT (Early) - 2 Fish Rigger 110-140 down - 11" White Paddle Dbl UV Tape & Poofster Fly - 2 Fish (Several Misses) This is the best day I've had on the water in a while! Can't wait to get back out. -JDH 7
littleboat Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Great catch! I wish you have posted earlier though. I would have changed my launch location today.
jdh Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 I was too tired to post last night. Not sure how much the launch location mattered - I talked to a few people that were catching fish in 260 fow yesterday. I think deep water has just been better lately. We got most fish at 180 fow and deeper.
littleboat Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Congratulations on your trip. It looked like a very good day for you and your crew. Good report. Keep them coming.
kid coulson Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 It was a awesome trip(as usual). Thanks brother JD!! Big king was 22 lbs ! Goes very nicely with our 25+ pounder last week.
