CJ428 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Ludington Like the Old Days I fished With the MetroWest Steelheaders on July 22 at Ludington- we had 18 boats entered with 129 fish caught- at least 4 were over 20 lbs- largest 22.45 lbs-total weight 737 lbs. Many of the salmon were stuffed with 8 to 10 alewives- In all my years I have not seen that. Spoons and meat rigs worked- South at projects was very good -some did well at the point. Have to wonder if the salmon planting reduction is helping alewife return. 2
dan agnello Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Awesome, good to here. Going up to Manistee/Frankfort end of August! 1
I_Catch_Her Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 We were at the Ludington Offshore Classic and the Big Boy. Incredible boxes of fish, and of course the 32# King. A charter captain we had gone with previously said the alewives are indeed thick, with each King they hook literally gorged on them. We marked some bait balls on the graph that were really unbelievable. Still a great Lake Trout fishery too. Love Ludington, and the entire Lake Michigan fishery. 1
The Greek Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 WOW. These posts are astonishing. Thanks for posting. Ya'll are so lucky to live so close to such a great fishery. I'll be up in the Manistee area all next week, but that's AFTER an 8 hr drive from Springfield, IL. Continued success to you and your crew. And, of course safe returns to port...
