Life Jackets Registration and numbering Navigation lights Ventilation Fire extinguishers Distress signals (flares, horn, etc.) Battery cover and connections The USCG Aux usually has a weekend in April when they will come dock side in Holland to preform a safety check and you get a nifty sticker for your window. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app that was a cut and paste from the USCG Aux web site, but yes they will look at your batteries. from what I understand is not to have the terminals connections exposed, so it limits the chance of dropping a metal object across the terminals and create a spark down in the engine compartment.
