Fishing license -  Check

Plus it's a good time to do a full safety review.  

• Life Jackets
• Registration and numbering
• Navigation lights
• Ventilation
• Fire extinguishers
• Distress signals (flares, horn, etc.)
• Battery cover and connections

The USCG Aux usually has a weekend in April when they will come dock side in Holland to preform a safety check and you get a nifty sticker for your window.

When I see a date I will post.

The Uscg aux will come by anytime to do a safety check. They will even come out to your house. They love to do it. It's nice for me because I have 3 in the marina I'm in. Annnnd they're some of my best friends.

that was a cut and paste from the USCG Aux web site,  but yes they will look at your batteries.

from what I understand is not to have the terminals connections exposed, so it limits the chance of dropping a metal object across the terminals and create a spark down in the engine compartment.
