Grand Haven & Port Sheldon update

Grand Haven River and launch area are free of ice out to the lake. Port Sheldon has skim ice and blocked entrance to lake. Won't be long now! Holland is still blocked.

Ice at Port Sheldon lake was completely blocking the entrance to Lake Michigan, probably pass the no wake zone into Sheldon and a little steep, like you may have seen at beach area buildups. Launch area ice was maybe an inch or less, but after this coming weekend warm up, I suspect they might both be gone.

Remember ice will flow from the big lake into the channel on Pigeon lake.  I was out in the lake a few years ago and had to push large ice blocks away to get back in the pier heads.  Not fun pushing ice blocks bigger than my boat.  Glad I had a canoe paddle with me.

Use caution and keep an eye on the pier heads for ice if you get out.

Hopeful to get out tomorrow........ Thinking Holland but would head to PS if that's the only clear channel. Any recent reports of the Holland channel?
