Water temps and wind direction question

If the water is warm and I'm on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan and I want the water to cool down, what direction would I want the wind to blow out of? I was told the West as this will push the warm water out and bring the cold water in essentially "turning the lake over." Is that correct? From what I'm seeing the current water temps are 72 degrees from Wisconsin to Michigan.
