mrhookup Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Made it out in Grand haven for a couple of trips heading into the holiday weekend. With the cold water in close we fished the pier heads both days. Thursday night I took a buddy out that hasn't gone since the end of last year. We had lines down from 8-10:30pm and went 3/3 with 2 kings and 1 steelhead, kings were 17lbs and 9lbs. Fish came in the 40-50FOW range. Marked the most bait I've seen all year and all three fish had magnum 7"+ ales in them. Fish came on short coppers and a rigger with moonshine spoons. Saturday morning took my dad out and partook in the combat fishing and ended up 4/7 with 3 steelhead and one 12" king to the boat. Lost another 3 steelhead while they were airborn. Stingray dbl orange crush on a gold blade and UV green dolphin were hottest for us. Water was colder than Thursday night and there was less bait around, only heard of one king caught that was bigger than ours. Fish were holding tighter to the mud/piers as well with the cooler temps. 4
