kingfisher255 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 does any one know if the south haven and benton harbor piers close at any time or is it open to get some good summer night bites going on?
Matt Striz Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I know for sure you can fish all night on both piers in St Joe without being harassed. North pier side doesn't have a gate, but south pier on St Joe side has a gate that is locked at 11 I believe but you can still get out just not back in until 5 am. Not sure about South Haven though. sparky30 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 south haven no gate but cops sometimes harass you untill they see your fishing North pier
Steelhead#1 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 You're allowed to park in the lot in SH after it closes only if you're fishing. You will be questioned if they see you. Even if they clearly see all your fishing gear. Be friendly, sometimes you've got to educate them on the policy. The city hires more cops for the summer time only. So they don't know all the in's and out's. North or South doesn't matter. All the same.
gmfishon Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 wow I am amazed that they are even closed for a minute let alone having to explain what your doing and when. Must be different up north. I know guys who have fished the pier from Ludington north at all times of night. Other than ice or waves crashing over what reasons do they have to keep is off ? Typical government the drug dealers and meth heads will be going crazy but the cops will be seeing who is on the pier.
