KICK'R Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Rough and tough sums up the South Haven Steelheaders Pro/Am Tournament that we fished this past weekend. The conditions were extremely rough and the fishing was tougher. We fished the Friday 5 Fish Tournament and ended up with 2 lake trout and 1 coho which didn't do us any good in the tournament. On Saturday the tournament was canceled due to high waves and wind. On Sunday the tournament was delayed 1 hour although the waves weren't that bad at the start of the tournament it didn't take long for the wind and waves to pick back up. The wind and waves made boat control near impossible but we did our best and ended up boating 6 lake trout which wasn't enough to place us very well. We fished just south of port near the weather buoy in 50-70fow. We had our best luck on Shasta Slingblades with a spin and glow near the bottom color didn't seem to matter as long as it was near the bottom. All in all a good weekend we just wish the weather have been better! 1
Martin1950 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yep, Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress sometimes and we have to respect those little flaws in her creator. Thanks for the pic's and report. We're putting to band back together for a Friday AM outing. Breaking out the Meat. Martin 1
fishoak Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I'll bite. What is the story behind the colored jars? Special bait solutions?
Martin1950 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Living on a rather meager retirement and Social Security Insurance. fishing with Herring was getting to be expensive so I learned to catch/brine/scent and color my own "Ale's". But NOT to high-jack this thread, I'll start a new thread somewhere else on the board. Martin 1
