KICK'R Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 We fished the HOOSIER COHO CLUB CLASSIC TOURNAMENT this weekend and had some very tough weather to deal with. We pre fished Friday afternoon for a few hours before the captains meeting and ended up with 1 small laker and a throwback coho in front of the pier heads. After not much success on Friday we decided to head northeast towards New Buffalo on Saturday. We started in 85 fow and trolled our to 120 before making a turn and heading into the building waves without a bite. We then made the decision to pull lines and head to shallower water. We took our first fish in 75 fow and then started taking fish again in 55-45 fow. We ended up landing only 2 lake trout but had 6 other bites and 3 were really nice fish that we lost. After day one of the tournament we were in 6th place so we knew we needed our 10 fish on day two in order to make a comeback. We ended up heading to the same area a was able to find the fish we needed to make our comeback we ended up with 4 coho, 1 brown, and 6 lake trout. We weighed our best 10 fish and it was enough to get us a 2nd place finish! We had a great time and are looking forward to fishing the St. Joe tournament next weekend!
