Salmon and Trout in Rivers?

Taking Dad out fishing today. Thinking Muskegon River. Hoping to hook up with some Salmon, Lakers or Steelhead. Please let me know if this is a good plan or am I just throwing line at calm waters.

Salamon yes, steelhead a little early, lakers: I'vé caught one out of hundreds of river fish. Kings should only get better in the next weeks then steel behind them peaking in November.

Grand haven was good in the mud and in the channel. Got 8, lost a lot more than we caught. Caught fish up the river too. I talked to a few people up in the Muskegon and they were getting them in the rivers. Mostly kings and some coho.
