silver one Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Have you thought about having it rebuilt?
gmfishon Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Call checker marine in LaSalle mi. They ship, have everything mercruiser and excellent service. You will probably be asked straight or cross bolt pattern. Since you have it off you know. 734 243 2683
sherman51 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 have you tried ebay? I find everything I need for my 350 mercruiser on ebay. and at great prices. the link frank posted looks like just what you need.
Special K Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Had my 4.3 mercruiser starter re-built. Much cheaper then a new one. I think I had $35 into it.
Priority1 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 It doesn't look like Ken has been here since he started the thread a couple of days ago.
Turfwrench Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Try this. I have a Delco alternator from DB.http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-2282-mercruiser-volvo-omc-43-350-marine-mini-starter-pm300-marine.aspxI had no luck with DB electrical starters. The first one I got from them for my 140hp Mercruiser blew the gears out within 2 weeks, they sent a replacement and within 4 months the new one went out too. They were both Chinese made and not worth the time and effort to try a third one. I went back to the original OEM starter and haven't had a problem since.

I never tried a starter from there and it's good to hear from someone who has. I did buy a new Delco alternator from them a few years back. The original alternator on my 140 Mercruiser was a Mando and it was Korean made. I could have had it rebuilt for $150 (parts expensive) or buy the new compatible Delco for around $70.

Wires, Coil, Spark, Plugs, points, rotor, cap, etc. Did you check for spark?
Ken Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Checked the dist cap today.............. this is what i found.......won't let me add pics.............wtf?
