trollingflies Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Here is a link to a video showing my flies swimming underwater behind an action disc. We were trolling for coho coming into the Puget Sound from the North Pacific. We fished squid and herring flies. Denis Peirce
jimbobber Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 do you run those behind a spin doctor, or similar dodger or just on its own ?
trollingflies Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Jimbobber,I fish these just the way you see them on the line. Sometimes I troll with a fly rod that can not handle a flasher. I have put flashers on the down rigger weight and run the fly close behind them. It is not out of the question to use the disc in combination with a flasher, I have not done so.In the Baltic Sea, Norwegian anglers fishing rotary head herring have added an Action Disc up the line and it worked well trolling for Atlantic salmon. bowbender Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I've been using these behind their swarm flasher for a couple years, and love them. I run the flasher off a short line right off the ball then run my fly off a Blacks release just above the ball, that way I get the attraction from the flasher but don't have the drag when fighting the fish. The disk adds the action not the flasher.
hear fishy fishy Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Jimmy, I have run the old style round ones with a flasher before and taken kings with them.
