Mega Byte Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I picked up a box of J plugs at a garage sale last year. Some rattle and some don't. Just curious how you guys mix the rattle plugs into your spread. It seems to me if you put too many out there, it will just make a racket and do more harm than good. Thoughts / experiences using rattle plugs? Thanks.
SeaCatMich Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I mainly have them work best in low light conditions -- the glow sticks in the old Northport Nailer glow plugs caused them to rattle plus the glow and were great for dawn/dusk. I would think that they would be good for leadcore/copper long lines too where the lure is away from the main spread and help the salmon hone in on its location.
gmfishon Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Never paid a bit of attention. I agree if you are trying to draw fish in then put them on the long lines. The riggers make enough noise that I don't think it matters
Killin' It Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 The fish have liked the rattle plugs more than the quiet ones this year on our boat.
