schlitz Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Have been fishing lake superior out of silver bay mn for a few days with no luck would like to know what how people have been catching would like to everything from speed of trolling to length of line behind flashers and depth of downrigger or dipsy divers and what colors they have been biting
FishKnocker Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 You might try Phil Nightwine, he fishes out of Two Harbors, MN - he might have a new secret lure? Also I have a friend who fishes out of Marquette, MI he likes running cowbells & dodgers w/ bucktail flies & glow squid skirts, 30 - 40' back from the ball, close to the bottom near structure -
schlitz Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Ok how long from the Dodgers are they running the squids and at what speed are you trolling at
No guarantees Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'm toms buddy from marquette mi. We have had great luck the past two years with gl-tackle squids and flies behind dodgers and cowbells 18 to 24 inchs behind cowbells at 1.5 to 1.7 mph. We have been running within a foot of the bottom and three feet from the ball.
AllenW Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Been fishing that area lately and had better luck running the flasher and bait 20-25 foot behind the ball, not sure why but they didn't hit closer for us.Went last thursday/friday and hit 14 Lakers.Al
FishKnocker Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 We've been getting some good feedback on these glow spoons for Lakers lately, no one said how deep or how far back?
FishKnocker Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Nice link from MI DNR - can click at the bottom "Lake Trout techniques for open water trolling"http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10364_53405-214030--,00.html
